Last weekend, we headed to Rindge, New Hampshire for The East Coast Ethiopian Culture Camp. Not only was it great to see all kinds of Ethiopian kiddos running around playing, getting their hair braided, taking Amharic classes, having a blast at Field Day, etc., but we also got to take classes that ranged from hair care, to transracial adoption, to heritage tours. Perhaps the best part though, was the older kids panel. We were able to listen to teenagers recount their experiences growing up Ethiopian in America. I also can't forget the Ethiopian dancing both nights. There was fabulous music and lots of shoulder movement!! On the way home, Dan and I were nearly speechless for much of the ride. We didn't want the weekend to end! It definitely left us hungry for another visit to Ethiopia. (Hopefully sooner rather than later!)

So awesome!!!! Shoot - will you let me know about future Ethiopia Culture Camps in your neck of the woods? Would love to come crash one, and we can visit you and family on the same trip! :) Love the photos and the camp sounds really, really fantastic. Miss you guys!

Sounds like a great time!
Yay!
Can't wait to go next year...with my kids! :)
This looks lovely. Just found your blog. Your little guy is adorable. We are adopting from Ethiopia in the next 12 mos or so in the same age range I think. Nice to see some of your journey. Thanks for sharing.
