So I'm super tired and I've got to be up in less than 5 hours for work, but I couln't dream of going to bed early tonight....and this is so worth it!
In addition to truly believing that this man was the best canidate for Presidency, what a great role model for all of our children. What a great example my son will have for at least the next 4-years. We've struggled to ensure that Petros has role models of color to look up to; I can't imagine a better one. He was so excited to go vote with us this afternoon, and kept asking where Obama was. Tonight when he told me, as he does each night, that he liked my white skin, his daddy reminded him that Obama has brown skin, and Petros smiled. I cannot wait until he fully understands the magnitude of this! My son lives in a world where the President of The United States has brown skin.

Nothing makes me more happy than to know that Petros can figure out from this that he can be anything he wants to be....beautiful brown skin or not!
Isn't it amazing?!!! I'm SO SO overjoyed about this election. Wow. There just aren't words for how profound it is to have a brown skinned man in the white house. Also, having a SMART man in there is a nice improvement, too! :)
We are also excited about what this means for our bi-racial children. There is a priviledge in identifying with the face of power and success that our little brown-skinned babies have not been able to enjoy, until now! Our kids are 9,7, 3 (and hopefully one in Ethiopia of an undetermined age).
