Or Ethiopian New Year! Today begins the year 2001 in Ethiopia! They still use the Julian calendar which consists of 12 months with 30 days each, and a 13th month with 5 or 6 days, depending on whether it is a leap year or not. To celebrate, I'll be making some of Petros' favorite Ethiopian dishes, shiro and doro wat. Seriously, the kid gets SO excited to eat these! I haven't tried making injera yet, but the local Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant sells it, and Melissa and Gavin's neighbors are from Ethiopia, and have given us some, so we've been lucky!

Great video - infectious! Thanks for posting!
Happy New Year!
As a fellow adoptive parent, I thought to write and tell you about the new guest home in Ethiopia specifically for adoptive parents and volunteer groups for the benefit of orphans in Ethiopia. Now that it is up and running, we would love to share the vision with other adoptive parents. You can see more at http://www.ethiopiaguesthome.com.
If you would like to post a link, send me an email at dave@ethiopiaguesthome.com and I'll forward you the information.
Blessings,
